So, Here’s What Valiant Comics’ Live-Action Heroes Are Gonna Look Like
The folks over at ComicBook.com have gotten their hands on a trio of images showing off the designs for Valiant Comics' upcoming digital series, Ninjak VS. The Valiant Universe. They are most unfortunate.
Let's take a look.
So, each of these images are being used as covers for upcoming Valiant comics. This one's for the second issue of Rapture, and gives us our first look at X-O Manowar, Ninjak and Bloodshot (that's former Green Power Ranger Jason David Frank as Bloodshot, by the way). X-O Manowar looks nothing like I recall him looking in the '90s, but - to be fair - I also haven't been keeping up with the happs on X-O Manowar over the past two decades. What can I say? Life got in the way.
Here we have our first look at Ciera Foster's Livewire, a character I'll admit to being wholly unfamiliar with. She's on the cover of Divinity #0, and - of the several designs being revealed today - I think Livewire's probably emerging the most unscathed. Not totally unscathed, mind you, just...the least scathed.
And, finally, we have the cover Rai: The History Of The Valiant Universe #1, featuring the dynamic duo known as Archer & Armstrong. I have many, many jokes to make about this photo, but I'll be keeping them all to myself as they are almost certainly Hashtag Problematic.
Dinesh Shamdasani, Valiant Entertainment's CEO and CCO, had the following to say about the forthcoming digital series:
“Valiant is very different. It's character-centered. It's grounded. It's subversive. It's left of center. It's quirky. We wanted to include the characters that showcased to a new audience how different and exciting Valiant is and why it's something equal to Marvel and DC and so these are the characters, our biggest characters and our most exciting characters to showcase the Valiant tonality."
If, like us, you're just now hearing about Ninjak VS. The Valiant Universe, ComicBook has a pretty good rundown on what we can expect from the series:
"In the series, Colin King is Ninjak, MI-6’s deadliest intelligence operative and weapons expert. When the ruthless assassin Roku exploits his greatest weakness, Ninjak will be forced to betray his closest allies. Now, on the run, he must face off against the most powerful heroes known to man for a high-octane, take-no-prisoners trial by fire more perilous and more unpredictable than any he’s faced before."
Valiant Entertainment's Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe will debut online sometime later this year. In addition to the images presented above, ComicBook also has a new trailer for the series (sadly, it's unembeddable, but you can check it out here...and I strongly urge you to check it out). You guys gonna watch this series or what?
