Clint Eastwood To Direct Beyonce In Remake Of A STAR IS BORN
A Star Is Born is getting a FOURTH go round, and this time Beyonce will be the star being born. But get this: Clint Eastwood will direct and produce.
The previous versions of A Star Is Born are all classics and created indelible screen couples: Janet Gaynor and Frederic March, Judy Garland and James Mason and most recently Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. A show biz fairy tale, A Star Is Born tells the story of a young woman entering the music world and falling in love with an already established male star. But as her career rises his begins to fall, and trouble happens.
Who will be Beyonce’s co-star? Maybe Clint, who once sang in Paint Your Wagon:
Okay, maybe not Clint. Deadline reports a number of names are being floated, including Sean Combs, Will Smith or Jon Hamm or Robert Downey Jr. Making the couple interracial would be an exciting change to the film’s formula. I imagine it’ll be set in the jazz world, which Clint understands, and hopefully not the hip hop world, where he’s totally out of his element. I could see it being a period piece, in fact.
The movie is at Warner Bros and has been in development for years. With Clint on board expect it to rocket ahead.
