THE HANGOVER PART III Is Happening, And Badass Digest Knows The Ending

Chalk this one up to ‘No shit, Sherlock,’ but The Hangover Part III is happening. That’s no surprise because The Hangover Part II was so big this weekend that the sequel is on track to outgross the original, which was already the best grossing comedy of all time.

The Wrap, via tracking-board.com, reports that Craig Mazin has been hired to write the film… which means we know the ending of it! Last week I interviewed Craig and he told me how he wants to end the film, which he thinks should finish the series:

I think the third movie ends with Doug staring at a row of crosses in a graveyard. It’s everyone – his wife, his family is dead, everybody from the first movie is dead. Somebody shows up and tells him his dog is dead.

Can The Hangover Part III be a success? Besides Mazin’s (obviously very serious and honest) idea for the end of the film, director Todd Phillips has said many  times that he thinks the third film must break the formula of the first two. That said, I still imagine the studio is pitching them a retread, except with Bridesmaids co-star Melissa McCarthy as Zack Galifianakis’ love interest.
