Lionsgate Restores Guillermo Del Toro’s MIMIC

This is easily the second best news of the day behind that amazing Drew Struzan FRANKENSTEIN print.

This is a great thing for fans of del Toro. As a dedicated fan of the guy’s work, this announcement is so, so satisfying. It may have set the precedent that we could at long last see other kneecapped Miramax director’s cuts (as I’ve long wished), like Billy Bob Thornton’s All the Pretty Horses.

This new disc includes a video introduction/prologue from the director, a brand-new commentary with del Toro, three featurettes including one appropriately called “Reclaiming Mimic” (the other two cover creatures and the shooting of the movie),deleted scenes, animatics, and a gag reel. Oh yeah, the theatrical trailer is on there, and the package includes a Digital Copy based on the box art image. I’ve copied the bulleted feature list from the press release below for those who’d rather scan those than actually read:

·    Video Prologue with director Guillermo del Toro- NEW
