Jean Claude Van Damme Vs UFOs

A low budget filmmaker reached out to Van Damme’s wife via email and booked the star for his local production.

Jean Claude Van Damme has signed on to star in a low budget British scifi movie… because the filmmaker reached out to his wife.

British micro-budget filmmaker Dominic Burns is making an alien invasion movie called UFO in his town of Derby; he describes it to the BBC as ”Independence Day meets Monsters, told from the point of view of Signs” (ugh. This guy sounds like he has a future in Hollywood). Here’s the description from Hollywood Reporter:

It details the story of five friends who wake up on a seemingly normal morning to find the power’s out, there’s no mobile phone reception and the radio can tune nothing but static. Two nights later with little more information a city-sized UFO appears above the town as tension and fear of attack grips the five.

Burns sent an email  to Van Damme’s wife and the actor agreed to take the part of a ‘military advisor.’ Burns was ‘astonished’ when  this happened. No word on how big the part is.

I guess this is good news to all of you lower than low budget indie filmmakers - try emailing the wives of actors you want in your films, you never know what could happen.
