Trailer For SAVAGES, Oliver Stone’s New Crime Movie

Stone's adaptation of Don Winslow's book - starring Taylor Kitsch and Blake Lively - gets a trailer.

Come back to us, Oliver Stone, come back! Stone is one of my favorite filmmakers, but he's been off the rails for a couple of years now. And by a couple of years I mean 'more or less the entire 21st century.' 

But could Savages be the movie that brings Stone back to a kind of filmmaking that he was killing in the 90s. Normally I don't call for filmmakers to regress, but when you're the guy who made World Trade Center and Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, it couldn't hurt.

I haven't read this Winslow book but I've read his other stuff, and I like his semi-sleazy, muscular stories. This one looks fascinating, with a couple of college white boys - Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson - taking on the Mexican cartels, personified by Benicio del Toro and Salma Hayek. I suspect that the straight forward revenge story we see in the trailer is much more complicated in the actual film.
