Concept Art For Bong Joon-Ho’s SciFi SNOWPIERCER

They're on a train! In the snow! But it looks good!

Bong Joon-ho is just like a masterpiece machine (Memories of Murder, The Host, Mother), so it's perfectly okay to get batshit excited about his English language debut, Snowpiercer. Based on a French graphic novel (le booke comique), Snowpiercer is a futuristic apocalypse story set in a time after an ice age - brought about by efforts to stop global warming - has killed all life on Earth. All life but the people on the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the world using a perpetual motion engine. On board that train a rigid class system has been created, but a revolution is brewing.

The film's premise is cool, but check out the cast: Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Ed Harris, Song Kang-ho, Tilda Swinton, Alison Pill, John Hurt. They can revolt me anytime!

Snowpiercer is coming this year from the Weinstein Company, but in the meantime check out this concept art  - since it's all you have to look at. I love the main image in this post, that big ship totally glaciated. And check out the poor people section of the train, a nightmare of peasants jammed together in dismal conditions. It seems that the richer folks have it better, judging by the schoolcar picture.
