MACGRUBER 2 Is Coming
There have been rumblings. There have been rumors. There have been hopeful discussions. There have been half-serious thoughts of Kickstarters. But now it's official. Now it's true. Now it's happening.
“We are going to make MacGruber 2 for sure. Whether we have to do it with a video camera in our backyards – there will be some form of MacGruber 2.”
That's from the mouth of Will Forte in an interview with EW. And the Veronica Mars Kickstarter has inspired him.
“Jorma [Taccone], the MacGruber director, he had the idea to do a Kickstarter like two years ago. He kept saying ‘We should do a Kickstarter’ and we were like ‘Yeah, maybe at some point.’ He’s always ahead of the curve. That’s the lesson you learn — always listen to Jorma.”
Lest you think I'm kidding about this being great news, I'm not. MacGruber is a classic bit of modern comedy. I've seen the movie a dozen times and always laugh throughout. It's just a wonderful movie, possibly made all the more wonderful by the confused looks you get when you tell someone it's one of the best comedies of the 21st century.
I'm hoping to hear more about what's next for MacGruber 2. Badass Digest stands prepared to support the making of this movie in any way possible.
If you have not yet joined the cult of MacGruber, it's not too late. Is this the best Saturday Night Live movie since The Blues Brothers? Almost certainly.
