New STAR WARS Animated Series On The Way
So we spent five years watching what happened between Star Wars: Episode II and Star Wars: Episode III. Now that we're all caught up there, it's time to see what happened between Star Wars: Episode III and Star Wars: Episode IV.
With Clone Wars cancelled and Star Wars owned by Disney, it was only a matter of time before a new animated series was announced. Today was that day. Star Wars Rebels will hit TV screens in 2014 on Disney cable channel and licensed clothing sizing option: Disney XD. As explained in the video above, the show will illustrate how the Star Wars Universe went from all CG and crappy to mostly practical effects and awesome. Also it will focus on the extermination of the Jedi. But in a fun way!
Most exciting, a lot of people from Clone Wars will work on the series. Actually, the most exciting thing is that they plan on translating Ralph McQuarrie's badass Star Wars artwork into the overall style of the show. I'm very excited to see how that turns out.
And while we're talking Star Wars, it should be mentioned that Latino Review's El Mayimbe thinks J.J. Abrams may be enlisting the help of Mission Impossible 3 actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers as a cast member for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII.
Right now it's still just a rumor, but I hope it stays that way. If I were to make a list of actors I can't stand, 1-4 would all be John Corbett, but Meyers might be number five. Then again, if there's one thing J.J. Abrams is decent at, it's casting. Maybe it will be fine. Still, I'd rather it was John Rhys-Davies instead. So long as Abrams keeps John Corbett far far away, I guess I shouldn't be picky.
