DOCTOR STRANGE Gets A Possibly Interesting Writer

PROMETHEUS was well-written, right?

We know that Scott Derrickson will be directing Marvel's upcoming Doctor Strange. Now a writer has joined the project, possibly to write it. That writer is named Jon Spaihts. He is the guy who wrote the non LOST-ified first draft of Prometheus. I can't remember if people liked that script because it was actually good or because they just wanted to be mean to Damon Lindelof.

Deadline reports that Spaihts is in talks, which I guess means it's as good as done. The script was being written by Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. That appears to no longer be the case. Marvel really wants to get this one going fast so people have an upcoming Marvel character film that doesn't fill them with sadness.

Also, the shortlist of possible Doctor Strange actors everyone knows - mainly Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy - now has an official new member: Jared Leto. Ha! Here at BAD we already knew that! (This was Devin's scoop, so I can tastelessly gloat about it in pride rather than bigheadedness.)

Such a thing is pretty meaningless however, so I'll wait to laugh my ass off until Leto is actually announced. If I'm more snotty than normal, it's because Doctor Strange is the intersection where my surface-level knowledge of Marvel comics finally pulls into a two-car garage and watches football while drinking Bud Light and eating some leftover Chili's. I have no idea what's going on with him.
