Woody Allen Returns To TV with An Amazon Prime Show

Woody Allen started off in TV, writing for Sid Caesar, amomg others, and after a stint as one of the greatest American directors of all time he's finally returning to TV. Or what they call TV today - streaming internet video, more specifically Amazon Prime. Woody will write and direct a series for the shopping website, which just won two Golden Globes for Transparent (a show whose pilot I found so irritating and so filled with exactly the kinds of LA people I hate that I imagine I'll never watch it again). 

In a statement Woody said

 “I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that (Vice President of Amazon Studios) Roy Price will regret this.”

Classic self-deprecating Woody, but also probably totally true. I imagine that a lot of the people who have supported Amazon Prime TV because of the progressive nature of Transparent (Jeffrey Tambor plays a father who comes out to his family as trans) will flip their lids that accused child molester (and definite adopted-daughter-of-his-partner marrier) Woody Allen now has a show there. 

As for me? This is probably going to be the first Amazon series I actually watch, now that Chris Carter's show didn't get picked up - although I am curious about Bosch, based on Michael Connelly's crime books.
