Patrick Stewart And Ian McKellen May Not Be Done With These X-MEN Movies Yet
Last we heard, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were all done being in X-Men movies. We knew Apocalypse was going to to take place in the ‘80s with the younger cast. Even the more unreasonable among us accepted this loss.
Now things are getting all screwed up again. While promoting his new film, Match, Patrick Stewart mentioned that while he won’t appear in X-Men: Apocalypse, his brother in arms, Ian McKellen is “certainly” going to be involved.
On top of that, Stewart also claims that he himself is very likely to appear in the next Wolverine movie, which is actually a fine and cool idea. Wolverine, after all, doesn’t have to play around with this 1980s redo stuff. He’s a rebel! He'll hang out with old wheelchair guys if he wants!
As for McKellen, who knows? This series can do basically whatever it wants. Why not bring back the old Magneto? Hey, why not have a baby one too? They can all bend spoons together.
Here's the quote in full:
Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in [‘X-Men: Apocalypse’]. And what I’m very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together. Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of ‘X-Men’ from the four movies that I’ve already done.
Of course, this is not solid news. Patrick Stewart is great, but I’m not sure how privy he is to how casting stuff will ultimately play out. Still, it’s fun to speculate.
