The Canon Episode 14: ET vs CLOSE ENCOUNTERS
Spielberg's classic alien movies, pitted head to head!
This was perhaps the hardest episode of The Canon for me yet. How do you make a decision between two of Spielberg's masterpieces, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and ET the Extra-Terrestrial? The films are both so great, so different... and yet so similar. ET is very much Spielberg's answer to his own Close Encounters, and I think there's a lot of interesting psychological territory to cover there.
