UPDATED What? Huh? How? Is MACGRUBER 2 Already Done Filming?

UPDATE: This got sorted out quickly. Regarding the story below, Will Forte was talking about post production on The Last Man on Earth and stupid people like me (Hi mom!) acted dumb about it. But according to The Wrap, MacGruber 2 is "Priority #1," so we can still get a little excited.

Will Forte has been teasing the idea of a sequel to his super amazing action comedy MacGruber for a while now. We all politely nodded “yes, that would be awesome,” while tweeting “no, that is unlikely.” But deep down, there was hope.

Now that hope is being played with a bit. Hollywood Life asked Forte about the supposed film’s status. Instead of giving the usual, “we’re just waiting to get the green light” or “the script is coming together very well so far” he drops this:

In a couple of weeks, when postproduction is over, I’m gonna get in there.

This seems very difficult to believe. It requires us to swallow an entire film shot in secret, a financially dubious film at that. While I want a MacGruber sequel so bad I can practically taste the ripped throats already, I’m just not sure about this.

Did Forte mix up pre and post production? Is it really happening? Or is he just fucking with us? I imagine we’ll find out soon enough. Until then, Forte’s new show The Last Man on Earth premieres March 8 this Sunday on FOX and looks great, so we can look forward to that for sure.
