Eddie Murphy Gets Role In Lee Daniels’ Richard Pryor Film

Things are about to get weird.

If Lee Daniels is making a film, I will be there. The guy puts Tyler Perry to shame when it comes to bizarre filmmaking choices that somehow get a pass from regular folks. He is truly and monumentally a strange filmmaker.

So I’m extremely excited for his Richard Pryor biopic. The film already stars Mike Epps as Pryor, Oprah Winfrey as Pryor’s mom, and Kate Hudson as Jennifer Pryor, his wife. Now it can add Eddie Murphy to its list.

Murphy’s actual role has not been announced yet, but just having him show up at all is kind of a big deal. This isn’t going to be a comedy, and it’s certainly not going to be a FAMILY movie, so Murphy’s already on the line to deliver something beyond what we’ve come to expect from him. Murphy’s also been in the news recently due to his return to Saturday Night Live after a very long absence. Then he was in the news again for being super boring during his return to Saturday Night Live after a very long absence. I prefer potentially positive stories like this.
