The winner of Drafthouse Films’ #LoveIsAMonster contest announced!
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's Spring was shot on location in beautifully scenic Italy, specifically in the coastal town of Polignano a Mare, and tells the story of a particularly singular relationship. Of course, all love stories are unique, but the one shared by Evan (Lou Taylor Pucci) and Louise (Nadia Hilker) has some horrific and supernatural qualities, in addition to the peculiar mundanities one might normally expect in their own relationship.
That's what inspired Drafthouse Films' recent Love Is A Monster campaign, the biggest contest we've offered to date. They wondered: what's your craziest love story? and teamed up with Lagunitas Brewing Co. and Puglia's Agenzia Regionale del Turismo to send a participating fan on a free vacation to the very spot where the film was shot. After sorting through tons of entries received via Instagram and Twitter, but could choose just one winner. That winner is Candace Carlisle, for this tweet.
Candace has won free airfare for two, a five night stay in Polignano a Mare, and some exciting expedition options, including a private, full-day guided tour to the Spring's shooting locations (such as Oria, Coversano and Egnazia), plus entrance to the museums that you can see in the film. As somewhat of a super-traveler, she's already started brushing up on her Italian:
Grazie Mille! Seriously, this is so amazing: from watching the beautifully captivating and enchanting genre hybrid film, Spring, at my favorite theater, to winning a trip to Polignano a Mare and timeless Italy. I am admittedly bouncing around the room. I really don't think I could be more excited!!! Yes indeed, l'amore è un mostro.
And Benson and Moorhead have reached out to extend their congratulations and envy:
There's nothing that can prepare Candace for the nonstop food and wine, kind/sexy people, mutant killer laser-sharks, and idyllic beauty of Polignano a Mare. We're jealous we can't be there, and are considering stealing her identity in order to take that trip for ourselves so we can go back there again. It's heaven on earth, have a great time and don't spend so much time taking photos of the beauty that you don't see the shark sneaking up on you or you forget to enjoy the town in the moment!
Follow Candace on Instagram and Twitter to watch for scenic updates later this summer, and don't wait for Spring 2 to visit Polignano a Mare yourselves – check out Puglia's Facebook page right here and book your next vacation!
And, if you haven't yet, watch Spring right now!
