The Atom’s FLASH/ARROW Spinoff Show Gets A Title And Series Pickup!

In February, we learned that Brandon Routh's The Atom will spin off from Arrow and The Flash into his own superhero team-up show on The CW, and today the pilot for that spin-off was picked up to series and given a title. The show will be called Legends of Tomorrow, which has a little more umph to it than "The Atom," which we were probably all assuming this show would be called. 

Of course "The Atom" wouldn't be quite accurate, as Legends of Tomorrow will also feature Victor Garber's half of Firestorm, Dominic Purcell's Heat Wave, Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold and Caity Lotz's we-have-no-idea, since Lotz's Black Canary died on Arrow. Of course, thanks to the Lazarus Pit/a thousand other devices used in comics history to restore the dead, Sara Lance's total deadness shouldn't be too much of a factor, but the fact that Katie Cassidy is now whipping baddies into shape as Black Canary on Arrow could confuse matters a bit. But regardless of her role, Lotz is a bonus. 

Here's the synopsis: 

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

Actually...this is starting to sound less like Ray Palmer's show, and more like Rip Hunter's, played by Doctor Who and Broadchurch's Arthur Darvill. Still: I'm glad it's not called "Rip Hunter," or god forbid "Rip" or "The Hunter." 

Legends of Tomorrow will be executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter, all of whom are known for Arrow and/or The Flash. The show's expected to debut this fall.
