ALICE + FREDA Will Be Next For THE BABADOOK’S Jennifer Kent

Lesbians! Romance! Murder!

Anyone who saw The Babadook should be eager to hear what’s next for the film’s director, Jennifer Kent. Now we know. Kent will direct an adaptation of the non-fiction book Alice + Freda Forever. As far as I can tell, the movie title will just be Alice + Freda. Because there’s no such thing as forever.

Written by Alexis Coe, who’s also writing the script, Alice + Freda is about a romance between two Memphis, Tennessee girls in 1892 that leads to a murder of some sort. I could look it up, but then I’d spoil the movie for myself!

This is great news. Though the plot sounds more like a period drama than a horror film, Kent displayed a ton of skill with The Babadook, which is really more of a family drama than a horror film, anyway. Hopefully she knocks this out of the park.
