Arnold Schwarzenegger Offers A LEGEND OF CONAN Update

He’s still excited about it!

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a busy guy. Right now he’s doing all kinds of press stuff for his new movie, Terminator: Genisys. Since no one wants to talk about that, people ask him questions about other things on his plate, like, for instance, his upcoming new Conan movie, Legend of Conan.

And at a press junket this weekend, that’s just what happened. Arnold spoke briefly about the film and as a result, we now have something close to a plot synopsis:

I was hoping to do another one, and I [liked] the idea of Conan having been king for a long time, then just threw it all away and went into retirement and went off into the mountains. That whole idea always appealed to me. Then of course he gets asked back because of some hideous and unbelievable things that are happening to the kingdom. So that’s when the battle begins again.

So Conan won’t even really be king anymore when the film begins. He’ll be like a retired king instead. Kind of like how Arnold is a retired governor. This is all starting to make sense!

Legend of Conan’s script is by Fast & Furious writer Chris Morgan, but it sounds like it still needs some work before it becomes Schwarzenegger-worthy (maybe the first time anyone has said that):

It needs some tweakage but really they’ve done an extraordinary job with it, very thoughtful so I’m looking forward to working with them on that as soon as this gets out of the way, because I’m very focused on one thing at a time. Then we do the next thing.

Hopefully this comes together soon. I’m more into Old Arnold doing original films, but of all the legacy sequels he keeps talking about, this Conan one definitely sounds the most promising.
