Here’s The New Red-Band Trailer For SINISTER 2

Editing may induce seizures, yawning in some viewers.

Scott Derrickson's Sinister was a welcome surprise when it arrived back in 2012. It had a few creepily effective sequences (namely, all of the stuff involving those freaky-ass filmstrips), conjured an admirable amount of tension and dread, and gave us one of Ethan Hawke's best performances in years. Yeah, maybe it didn't stick the landing as well as we would've liked, but still: it was worth seeking out. An above-average entry in the horror genre, I'd say.

And now we have the inevitable Sinister 2. Derrickson - currently filming Doctor Strange over in London - returned to co-write the script with C. Robert Cargill, while directorial duties were handed over to Citadel's Ciaran Foy.

From the looks of the new red-band trailer embedded below, Sinister 2 will be more of the same...while expanding upon the (admittedly, very silly) mythology established in the first film: the freaky filmstrips are back, Buhguul's got a new collection of children to corrupt, and people are gonna end up dead in a variety of ugly ways. Take a look:

...yeah, I dunno. This isn't doing much for me. What do you guys think?

Sinister 2 opens August 21st.
