There's not a wasted second in it - every beat, every shot is earned and full of impact. I saw it at Stanley Film Festival last April, and afterward on the shuttle from the theater back to the hotel, a trolley full of strangers connected by revisiting every surprising and terrifying moment of The Invitation. It's just that kind of movie.
