Kathryn Bigelow To Direct Untitled Detroit Crime Drama
It’s been four years since Zero Dark Thirty, which means it’s time for a new Kathryn Bigelow movie. And wouldn’t you know it, one is coming up.
The Wrap reports that Bigelow will team up once again with The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty writer Mark Boal to make a crime film that takes place in Detroit during its devastating, five-day-long 1967 riot. The idea is for the film to come out in 2017, marking the riot's 50th anniversary. That’s pretty much all there is to know about it right now. It doesn’t even have a title.
But still, this is good news. Bigelow and Boal will also product the film along with Annapurna’s Megan Ellison and Matthew Budman. Pretty much everyone involved so far instills a ton of confidence that this will be something to anticipate.
