Ewan McGregor Is Jesus And Satan In LAST DAYS IN THE DESERT
Acclaimed television writer/director Rodrigo García (Six Feet Under, Carnivàle, Blue) brought his film Last Days in the Desert to Sundance this year, and it certainly makes for a compelling premise: Ewan McGregor plays both Jesus and The Devil during Jesus' forty day fast in the desert.
Today, we've got a trailer that seems to deliver on that intriguing premise:
And here's a more complete synopsis:
Last Days in the Desert follows Jesus (Ewan McGregor) in an imagined chapter from his forty days of fasting and praying in the desert. On his way out of the wilderness, he struggles with the Devil, also played by McGregor, over the fate of an ordinary family in crisis, setting for himself a dramatic test with distinctly human conflicts.
The great Emmanuel Lubezki is the cinematographer on Last Days in the Desert and, knowing that, the film looks unsurprisingly beautiful. McGregor is joined by Ciarán Hinds, Ayelet Zurer and Tye Sheridan as the family in crisis, and that's one remarkably strong cast.
Last Days in the Desert arrives in theaters May 13. If this is your very specific cup of tea, mark your calendars.
