Here Comes A Remake Of John Carpenter’s STARMAN

Sometimes remakes outrage us. Sometimes (very infrequently) we're OK with them, because they offer a particularly good spin on an old idea. And sometimes you hear about a remake that yields a total non-response. 

This is one of those times: Sony is remaking John Carpenter's Starman.

Starman's a movie that was on heavy rotation during my childhood, but - now that I'm thinking about it for the first time in maybe two decades - I realize that I remember almost nothing about it. I of course remember that the film stars Jeff Bridges, and that he played an alien who (having accepted the invitation attached to NASA's Voyager 2 space probe) travels to Earth and falls in love with Karen Allen. I remember John Carpenter directed. Beyond that? I got nothin'. 

According to Variety, this new iteration of Starman is to be directed by A Night At The Museum's Shawn Levy and written by Arash Amel, who wrote Grace Of Monaco. Like the idea of a Starman remake, their attachment to this project fills me with a tremendous sense of indifference. I mean, yeah, sure. Okay.

Where do you guys stand on Starman? Do I need to revisit this thing, or am I right in feeling almost nothing about any of this?
