It was just last week that I was drawing some fairly serious lines in the sand over the work of Jody Hill, so you can imagine how excited I was to see a new trailer for Vice Principals pop up this morning.
Vice Principals, as you'll recall from Meredith's report out of SXSW, is a new HBO comedy from frequent collaborators Jody Hill, Danny McBride, and David Gordon Green. It stars McBride and Walton Goggins (how's that for a dream team?) as two high school Vice Principals competing for a promotion. Because this is a Hill/McBride/Green joint, you know that competition is going to get completely, dangerously out of hand.
Let's take a look.
I've been a fan of everything these guys have done together (yes, even Your Highness; come at me, bro), and I'm particularly fond of Eastbound And Down. For the most part, it appears that Vice Principals will offer more of the same, but A) that's fine by me, and B) this series has the added bonus of Walton Goggins, who I cannot wait to see operating in a Hill/McBride/Green reality. The possibilities are endless, and I think there's a good chance Goggins will end up walking away with this thing. No small feat when you're up against Danny McBride.
Vice Principals hits HBO on July 17th. I wish it would hurry up and get here.
