It’s Official: CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM Is Coming Back
We heard rumblings last week, but now it's officially official: Curb Your Enthusiasm is returning to HBO.
The news was announced yesterday by HBO's newest president of programming, Casey Boys, who said:
"We’re thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of Curb and can’t wait to see what he has planned.”
Larry David weighed in, as well:
"In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.’”
That's not entirely accurate - David was a regular fixture on Saturday Night Live's most recent season, and in 2013 he wrote and directed Clear History for HBO - but whatever: I'm just happy to know that Curb's coming back.
Another of HBO's top-shelf comedies (trivia: it's also the network's longest-running series), Curb Your Enthusiasm's eighth season ended all the way back in September of 2011. It's been five years since we checked in on Larry, Cheryl, Leon, Jeff, Susie and the rest of the crew, and I wanna know what those guys are up to these days. My understanding is that HBO has an open door policy in place for Larry David - he's free to produce new seasons whenever a good story strikes him - so here's hoping he's come up with something great (read: extraordinarily misanthropic) for season nine.
So, when will these new episodes of Curb arrive? No idea, but we'll keep you posted.
