New LIGHTS OUT Trailer Suggests Your Childhood Fear Of The Dark Was Totally Valid

Time to invest in a nightlight.

A new trailer for David F. Sandberg's Lights Out has arrived. It's pretty cool. Maybe not as strong as the last one (and certainly not as effective as the short that inspired it), but creepy enough.

Give it a whirl.

In case you've forgotten, Lights Out is Sandberg's directorial debut, based on his own short of the same name. That short went viral a few years ago, to the extent that it grabbed the attention of a few movers and shakers in Hollywood. A script was written, James Wan came onboard to producer and...well, here we are.

Here's an awkwardly-written plot synopsis:

Horror. From producer James Wan (The Conjuring) comes a tale of an unknown terror that lurks in the dark. When Rebecca left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn’t real when the lights went out…and now her little brother, Martin, is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that had once tested her sanity and threatened her safety. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother, Sophie, has reemerged. But this time, as Rebecca gets closer to unlocking the truth, there is no denying that all their lives are in danger…once the lights go out.

And here's the short that inspired Lights Out, just in case you've never seen it. I love this thing.

So, what do you guys think? Gonna give Lights Out a chance when it arrives on July 22nd, or are ya gonna wait for Netflix?
