Do Not Look Directly Into This New LA LA LAND Trailer, It Burns Too Brightly

Damien Chazelle's latest looks likely to close 2016 on a high note.

Historically speaking, I am not a sucker for musicals.

I am a sucker, however, for the nuclear-grade chemistry shared by Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. I am also a sucker for gorgeously-composed shots, hauntingly beautiful melodies, romantic happenings inside planetariums, and the previous film of Damien Chanzelle, Whiplash

All of which is to say: I am already in the bag for La La Land, and today's new trailer only reinforces that notion.

We are not supposed to pre-judge movies based on their trailers, but in this case I am prepared to throw caution to the wind: La La Land looks excellent, and is easily one of my most-anticipated films of 2016 (how most-anticipated? If I had the option to watch this or Rogue One right now, I'd watch this). If it ends up on my year-end top 10 list, I will not be the least surprised.

Here's the official synopsis:

Written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Damien Chazelle, La La Land tells the story of Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.

And here's a newly-released poster, which is not as eye-searingly beautiful as today's new trailer but still worthy of our attention:

Are you guys as excited for this one as I am? Who among you will be there when La La Land opens on December 2nd (note: it goes wide December 16th)?
