First PATRIOTS DAY Teaser Trailer Offers Pretty Much Exactly What You’d Expect
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
If the following trailer for Patriots Day gives you Déjà vu, know that you are not alone:
That’s basically the same trailer we got for Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg’s most recent American tragedy movie, Deepwater Horizon. Wahlberg flirts with is lady, goes to work and then bad things happen. To be fair, it’s the trailer structure for a lot of films, but the similarities here are egregious.
Putting that aside, this is a successfully chilling teaser, focusing not on the film’s center event so much as the tender aftermath, all while introducing us to the various character actors who fill out the cast. Plus, Boston accents. Everybody loves those.
Patriots Day comes out December 21.
