Zach Galifianakis Joins Ava DuVernay’s A WRINKLE IN TIME

A most unlikely star has joined Disney's big-budget Madeleine L'Engle adaptation.

Here's what I'm assuming will be today's second-most unlikely story: Zach Galifianakis has joined the cast of Ava DuVernay's big-budget A Wrinkle In Time adaptation, joining a cast which already includes Oprah Winfrey, Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, and San Junipero's own Gugu Mbatha-Raw. That's some good company to be in.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Galifianakis will be playing "Happy Medium, a man who is able to view different times and places". According to my associate Meredith Borders, this role has been gender-swapped from L'Engle's original text, where Happy Medium was "a pleasant, psychic lady" who "lives on a grey planet where everything’s the same".

At this point it should be blatantly obvious that I've not read A Wrinkle In Time, and I think maybe it's about time I rectified that situation. What I have been told about the book sounds really cool, and this cast (and this director!) are certainly worth getting excited about.

Ava DuVernay's A Wrinkle In Time begins shooting this month in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
