Harley Quinn Smith Wants To Play Her Namesake In GOTHAM CITY SIRENS

The YOGA HOSERS star wants in on the DCU.

In a new interview with ComicBook.com, Yoga Hosers star Harley Quinn Smith reveals that she'd be very interested in playing the young version of her namesake in Warner Bros.' upcoming Gotham City Sirens project.

Here's the quote:

"Before they even mentioned that she was going to make a spinoff, I talked to my agent and I was like honestly, I know this isn't even a project yet, but I just want you to know that when the day comes that they do start putting this into production I need you to make sure, if there is a young Harley Quinn role, that no one other than Harley Quinn plays that role. (My agent) was like, 'Okay..."

"I don't even know how long I've been waiting for this."

Smith's been vocal about her love for the character in the past, so it's not really surprising to hear that she'd be angling for the role. And hey, she's already got her foot in the door with the DC folks: just last week she made her first appearance on the CW's Supergirl (according to ComicBook.com, she played "a civilian") and she's eager to get back in the game (preferably in a villain role).

"Honestly, any villain would be fun. I like to play characters that are most opposite from me, I think it's more fun that way and any villain in a movie or on The Flash. Joey King just played Magenta I think, on The Flash. Something like that. There's not too many teenage female villains, but any sort of villainous role would be so awesome."

Look, we've not been shy about giving Yoga Hosers the business around here, and lord knows we've been critical (and rightfully so, I'd argue) of the DCEU. But my understanding is that the CW's DC shows are actually pretty legit, and if that's something Smith's passionate about, I say more power to her. Gotham City Sirens - to be written and possibly directed by Suicide Squad's David Ayer - still strikes me as a highly questionable idea, so I might advise Smith to stand down on that one ... but then again: what do I know? Follow your bliss, Harley Quinn Smith.

Stay tuned for more on Gotham City Sirens as it becomes available.
