Marvel Just Announced A Mysterious New AVENGERS Game
Yesterday, Marvel told us they'd be making a big announcement today at 9AM, and ... well, whether or not they delivered on that promise will depend entirely upon how excited you get about the following: the studio's teaming up with Square Enix (the Final Fantasy franchise), Eidos-Montreal (Thief, Deus Ex) and Crystal Dynamics for a brand-new Avengers game.
The announcement came in the form of a trailer.

Well, okay, sure. That's pretty cool, I guess.
I mean, it's not as cool as, say, a Thor: Ragnarok trailer or new Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 footage or the announcement that Sam Saathoff has been cast as Beta Ray Bill in Avengers: Infinity War Part Two, but, sure, I guess this was worth being on Twitter at 9AM for. I just wish this trailer was a bit more forthcoming with the details, y'know?
Let's see if the project's official description (via Kotaku) has anything further to tell us:
The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.
So, no, not really. We know Square Enix and Marvel have partnered up, that the game's being developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, and that it will feature familiar characters, environments, and "iconic moments" from the Avengers franchise. Could be a MMORPG, could be a VR title, could be an iPhone trading card game. We'll just have to wait and see.
Alright, well, stay tuned, folks. That's all for now.
