Busy Philipps And Tina Fey Join Forces For THE SACKETT SISTERS
This news is a couple of days old, but it's new to BMD and immensely crucial, so here goes:
Busy Philipps will star in The Sackett Sisters, a new sitcom from 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt's Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. Here's a little scoop on what that means:
Written by Brooklyn Nine-Nine executive producer Del Tredici, The Sackett Sisters is about two estranged sisters — one played by Philipps — who perform a Sully Sullenberger-esque act of public heroism, then are forced to navigate their new found notoriety together.
And about Philipps' character:
Phillips [sic] will be portraying the older sister, Nancy, who is described as “the living embodiment of failure” and has been married three times, arrested six, and has never held a job for more than a week.
Oh, heck yes. Philipps is one of television's most unsung treasures. She's funny in this way that's somehow both warm and irreverent, a rare and extremely appealing combination. Carlock and Fey are obviously a known quantity, and I haven't seen Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but I know that people really love it. This feels like a lot of potential for success all in one project.
The Sackett Sisters will air on NBC...one day. While I've already read suggestions for Amy Poehler and Michelle Williams as the second sister, I'd love to see Elisha Cuthbert in this role. Or Eliza Coupe. Or Casey Wilson. Okay, sure, I'm just listing all of the actresses from Happy Endings now. Your turn!
