Here’s A Few New Details On The Next Film From BABADOOK Director Jennifer Kent
We're big fans of Jennifer Kent's The Babadook around these parts, so anything she's involved with going forward is going to be of particular interest to the BMD staff. We've known about Kent's next film, a thriller called The Nightingale, for some time now, but today we've got some brand-new plot details on the film thanks to the good folks at The AV Club.
Namely:
Titled The Nightingale, the movie is described as a “period thriller” that takes place in Tasmania in 1825 and centers on a “beautiful 21-year-old” convict from Ireland who sees her husband and baby killed by “her soldier master and his cronies.” Seeking vengeance, she and an Aboriginal tracker enter “the hellish wilderness,” where she “gets much more than she bargained for.”
A revenge thriller based in the 1825 Tasmanian wilderness? Oh, yes. That definitely sounds in our wheelhouse.
The Nightingale, which stars Sam Claflin, Aisling Franciosi and Damon Herriman, goes into production later this month. Nothing further to report at this time, but we'll keep you informed as the updates roll in.
