Adam McKay Wants Christian Bale To Play Dick Cheney

And he wants Steve Carell to play Donald Rumsfeld. No, really.

The Big Short director Adam McKay is currently gearing up to shoot an Untitled Dick Cheney Movie for Paramount, and last night Deadline revealed the director's casting wishlist for the film. It contains, well, a few curveballs.

Says Deadline:

Christian Bale is his choice for Dick Cheney, Steve Carell is the choice for Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and Amy Adams is the choice for Cheney’s wife Lynne.

You'll recall that Bale and Carell previously worked with McKay on The Big Short, the screenplay for which won McKay an Oscar back in 2016. As you might not recall, Amy Adams previously worked with McKay ten years prior, on Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby. It did not win any Oscars, nor was it nominated.

Deadline says the decision to greenlight the film with this cast in place is now in Paramount's hands, but they'll need to make the decision somewhat quickly: Untitled Dick Cheney Movie is scheduled to start shooting in September.

What do you folks think? Can you imagine these people in those roles? Are you even interested in a Dick Cheney movie? Didja ever get around to seeing The Big Short, and if so, what'd you think? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for updates.
