Tom Holland Really Wants Shane Carruth To Make THE MODERN OCEAN

Join the club, Tom Holland.

Hey, y'know what movie we've heard nothing about for a long, long time? Shane Carruth's The Modern Ocean. At last we heard, the project had roped in such notable acting heavyweights as Anne Hathaway, Keanu Reeves, Daniel Radcliffe, Chloë Grace Moretz, Tom Holland and Jeff Goldblum, but it's been quite some time since there's been any update on the film.

Today, we got one - a very small and not-particularly-illuminating one - via a new interview with Tom Holland at Collider. Says Holland:

“I love Shane’s movies, I think he’s a great director; Primer and Upstream Color are awesome. The Modern Ocean is I think the best script I’ve ever read. It’s the craziest idea for a movie ever; it’s so cool. I actually keep meaning to get my agents on the phone to talk about it, to try and see if we can kick it up again. But not I’m still attached to it I guess, but I hope we get to make it in the future."

Okay, so, again: not particularly illuminating! But it does tell us people behind the scenes are still interested in getting The Modern Ocean made, and - given the fact that Birth.Movies.Death. is a very pro-Shane Carruth website - that's something we've deeply invested in, as well.

Will it ever happen? No idea. We don't know what's going on with the project and the above quote doesn't really shed any light on that. But we do hope someone steps up to the plate to help make The Modern Ocean happen, and we'll be keeping an ear to the ground for updates as this one works its way towards, y'know, actually going in front of cameras.

Stay tuned.
