Here’s Our First Look At Lady Gaga In A STAR IS BORN
Warner Bros. just dropped our first look at Bradley Cooper's A Star Is Born remake. Cooper - who's directing the film in addition to co-starring in it - looks pretty much like he normally does. His co-star, on the other hand, is borderline unrecognizable.
Yes, that's Lady Gaga (who will be billed with her real name, Stefani Germanotta, a first for the performer) on the right. She looks great, to be sure, but no way I would've guessed that was her if I weren't already aware that this movie was happening.
Here's a plot synopsis, via the good folks at Coming Soon:
Cooper plays Jackson Maine, a country music star who is on the brink of decline when he discovers a talented unknown named Ally (Germanotta). As the two begin a passionate love affair, Jack coaxes Ally into the spotlight, catapulting her to stardom. But as Ally’s career quickly eclipses his own, Jack finds it increasingly hard to handle his fading glory.
Gaga/Germanotta won't just be acting, either: she's apparently composed and will perform original songs for the film, which is actually the fourth telling of this particular story (previous iterations arrived in 1937, 1954 and 1976). Without consulting IMDb, I am confident that this version will be the only one to feature a supporting performance from Andrew Dice Clay.
A Star Is Born will film scenes at Coachella this week (extras have been invited and told to wear country-western attire), and will arrive in theaters on September 28th, 2018. Long way to go on this one, but we're curious about it and will keep you updated as the film works its way through production.
Stay tuned.
