TNT’s TALES FROM THE CRYPT Reboot Has Been Delayed

So, THIS doesn't sound very good.

'Round these parts, we've been pretty hyped to get a look at TNT and M. Night Shyamalan's Tales From The Crypt reboot. The closest we came was back in February, when a "teaser trailer" for the series arrived out of nowhere, raised a few red flags and then promptly disappeared. That whole thing was ... strange, to say the least.

All signs pointed to the series making its return this year, but now it sounds like that might not be the case. According to a new report at Deadline, Tales From The Crypt has been delayed, and the reasons why don't sound encouraging:

“The underlying rights to the classic, vintage property are complicated,” the network said in a statement. “TNT and others have been pursuing a solution for more than a year, with significant progress being made. We look forward to the potential for further active development of this valuable franchise once the clearance process is fully resolved.”

The Tales From The Crypt reboot was first announced all the way back in January of last year, and one would think that whatever rights issues might be at play would have been addressed long before now. It's enough to make one wonder if anything's even been shot at this point. It also makes one wonder what the exact rights issues are (for example: might this be related to the Crypt Keeper character?).

There's nothing further to report at this time, but since we're rooting hard for this one, you can rest assured we'll be keeping you updated as the situation develops. Stay tuned for more, kiddies.
