Claire Foy Is Your New Front-Runner To Play Lisbeth Salander

Fede Alvarez may have found his GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB.

According to Variety, The Crown star Claire Foy is now the top pick to play Lisbeth Salander in Fede Alvarez' The Girl In The Spider's Web. She's not the first actress we've heard was up for the role (at one point, Scarlett Johansson's name was in the mix), but Variety says an offer may be going out to Foy shortly.

There's just one potential catch, however:

"Foy is also meeting with Damien Chazelle for the female lead in his next film at Universal, First Man, which stars Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong. Sources at Universal say that no offer has been delivered for that role."

So, two different projects, Foy apparently the front-runner to co-star in both, and neither of them have made a firm offer yet. Quit toying with Claire Foy, you monsters! Make that offer or move on! All this tension is probably driving this nice young lady nuts!

Nothing further to report at this time, but that'll probably change soon: Alvarez needs to deliver The Girl In The Spider's Web in time to meet its already-announced Oct. 19th, 2018 release date, so expect someone to get a firm offer in the near future. We'll let ya know when it happens.

In the meantime: where do you stand on a Fede Alvarez-directed Lisbeth Salander movie? Into it, or do you think we should let sleeping goth-hackers lie?
