SNOWPIERCER Is Coming To TV With Daveed Diggs In The Lead Role

We've known for a while that a TV adaptation of Bong Joon-ho's Snowpiercer was in the works, but this morning things got very official: we know who's directing the pilot, we know what network it's headed to, and we know who's going to headline the show.

According to IndieWire, TNT will soon announce Tony-winning actor Daveed Diggs (Blackish, Hamilton) as the series lead for their version of Snowpiercer, and Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson (soon to be working on Hulu's pilot for Locke And Key) will direct the first episode.

So, who's Diggs going to be playing? IndieWire describes his character thusly:

"Diggs will star as Layton Well, 'a prisoner barely surviving the harsh conditions in the tail end of the train. A quiet thinker who spends his days sniffing the industrial-waste-turned-drug Chronole and tending to his cage full of rats, Layton becomes a reluctant participant in a struggle that could upend life on the train.'"

In addition to directing the series pilot, Derrickson will also be serving as executive producer on the series, alongside the original's director, Bong Joon-ho, as well as Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi. TNT is not messing around with this one, are they?

No further word on when Snowpiercer might pull into the station, but of course we're going to be keeping our ears to the ground for further updates.
