Tom Cruise To Re-Enter The Danger Zone, Says TOP GUN 2 Filming Soon
We don’t really need a sequel to Top Gun, but we’re getting one, according to Maverick himself, Tom Cruise. While talking with Australian morning show, Sunrise, Cruise dropped the danger-zone bomb that the movie is going to start filming “in the next year.”
Check out the video the show tweeted below:

Cruise has been teasing a sequel to Tony Scott’s dogfighting action classic for some time now, and Jerry Bruckheimer even tweeted back in January ‘16 that the two met on the set of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back to “discuss a little Top Gun.” Who’s directing or writing is still up in the air (as is Val Kilmer’s involvement as Iceman, which is a make or break proposition for this writer), but Cruise is a regular Paramount player (where his Mission: Impossible and Jack Reacher franchises also live), so it’d be odd for him to talk outside of class (so to speak). Stranger things have happened, obviously, but I’d probably bank on this being legit, whether we want it to happen or not.
So, what do you think? With Scott sadly gone, who should take over the director’s chair? Or do y’all even care about a Top Gun follow-up at all?
