Doug Liman Will No Longer Direct The JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Movie

Back to the drawing board.

Warner Bros.' ongoing attempts to add a Justice League Dark movie to the DCU have been, well, somewhat troubled: initially announced as a project to be helmed by Guillermo del Toro, that pairing eventually fell apart due to scheduling conflicts, at which point Edge Of Tomorrow director Doug Liman stepped in to take over.

And now...

"Sources tell Variety that director Doug Liman has (Justice League Dark). Insiders say the reason is schedule-related, as Liman is also attached to direct Lionsgate’s Chaos Walking, which recently received a greenlight. Sources say the studio has already started meeting with other directors and should have a replacement for Liman lined up shortly."

Yes, Doug Liman has officially stepped down as director of Justice League Dark, and a new hunt has begun for a director who can get this thing onto screens (thankfully, it does not seem as though Justice League Dark's third director will be trying to meet any specific release date). The whole thing feels like the setbacks WB has suffered on another of its would-be DCU movies, The Flash, which has cycled through multiple directors and is still struggling to get across the starting line.

Who will step in to cover for Liman? No idea at present, but we'll probably know something sooner rather than later. You folks have any suggestions? Who's on your wishlist to direct Justice League Dark (and, no, you can't pick Guillermo del Toro)? Sound off in the comments below.
