The FAR CRY 5 Trailer Is As Beautiful As It Is Terrifying

The first trailer for Ubisoft's Far Cry 5 has arrived, and...hoo, boy, this one's sure to get a conversation going.

Yes, rather than taking place in a fictional location, Far Cry 5 will unfold in and around a small town in the actual state of Montana, a choice that - after the events of the past week - probably carries even more of a charge than it did when the folks at Ubisoft settled on it. This is a game, set in present day America, which will have players battling a religious fanatic's dangerous cult and (if previous Far Cry gameplay loops are any indication) probably taking over trailer parks and old churches and what-have-you in order to open up fun new abilities. 

This seems like the sort of thing that people will have strong opinions about. From where I'm standing, this feels like a bold, interesting move on Ubisoft's part, and I'm very curious to see what they do with the premise. I'm also, admittedly, a little unnerved by the whole thing: these days, a hate group taking over an entire town feels all too real (probably because it sort of already happened). I can't wait to play Far Cry 5, but I'm buckling up for what could end up being a most unpleasant campaign.
