David Mamet In Talks To Adapt Don Winslow’s THE FORCE For James Mangold

According to Deadline:

David Mamet is now in advanced talks to adapt (Don Winslow's The Force) for Fox, director James Mangold and Scott Free.

Talks are still ongoing, but the Pulitzer Prize winning playwright and Academy Award nominated screenwriter seems an ideal match for the gritty cop banter that drives a procedural that revolves around an elite group of detectives galvanized by their tough guy leader Denny Malone.

You can say that again. Buzz has been building around The Force for months (early reviews have been through the roof; Stephen King endorsed it as "The Godfather with cops"), so it's no surprise to learn that a feature film adaptation is in the works. It is exciting to hear that this much talent's being put behind it: Mamet adapting Winslow for Mangold is a fantastic combination.

Mangold, as you know, is coming off the smashing success of this year's Logan. Mamet, if you didn't know, is the award-winning scribe behind Glengarry Glen Ross, The Untouchables, Wag The Dog, and the criminally-undervalued State And Main (seriously: see that movie if you haven't already, it's great).
