Paul Feig’s Next Is A Thriller About A Mommy Blogger

Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are in talks to join A SIMPLE FAVOR.

According to Deadline, Paul Feig's next film will be a film by the name of A Simple Favor. Based on the novel of the same name by Darcey Bell, Deadline says the film's a thriller revolving around "a mommy blogger in a small town whose best friend vanishes."

Here's a more detailed plot description from the book's Amazon page:

"When glamorous Emily asks Stephanie to pick up her son after school, Stephanie happily says yes. Emily has a life that would make any woman jealous. She is the perfect mother with a dazzling career working for a famous fashion designer in Manhattan. Stephanie, a widow with a son in kindergarten, lonely in their Connecticut suburb, turns to her daily blog for connection and validation. Stephanie imagines Emily to be her new confidante and is shocked when Emily suddenly disappears without a trace, leaving her son and husband with no warning."

Currently in talks to join the film: the great Anna Kendrick and The Shallows star Blake Lively. We're not certain who'd be playing which role, but if I were a betting man I'd put all my chips on Kendrick being the blogger (Stephanie) and Lively being the missing friend (Emily).

This is an interesting move for Feig, who's built a career largely on big-budget comedies like Bridesmaids, Spy, and last year's Ghostbusters reboot. We've very curious to know what a Paul Feig thriller looks and sounds like, so we'll be keeping a close eye on this one as it moves forward.
