Against All Odds, We’re Getting A Sequel To THE ACCOUNTANT

We 100% did not see this one coming.

In what has to be the unlikeliest piece of news we'll hear today, Deadline has just confirmed that both Ben Affleck and director Gavin O'Connor are teaming up for a sequel to last year's surprise hit, The Accountant. Yes, that The Accountant.

Says Deadline:

"Warner Bros is mobilizing a sequel to the 2016 hit The Accountant. Screenwriter Bill Dubuque, director Gavin O’Connor and Ben Affleck are in talks to return, along with the producers Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams. All those deals are being worked out right now."

Also being worked out now: the story, and who else might be returning. Deadline says The Accountant 2: Math Harder will almost certainly bring Jon Bernthal's character back into the fold, but beyond that, we have no idea where this sequel might take us. Given how unpredictable the original was, we're not even comfortable venturing a guess.

We expected to see many movies sequelized in the coming years, but The Accountant definitely wasn't one of them. As such, this strikes us as legitimately shocking news, and we're still wrapping our heads around it. How you guys feeling? Did you enjoy the original? Interested to see Affleck give it another go?
