Andy Muschietti Will Also Develop A ROBOTECH Movie For Sony

From IT to LOCKE AND KEY to ROBOTECH.

Earlier today we learned that It director Andy Muschietti has officially signed on to direct the pilot for Hulu's long-gestating Locke And Key series. Now we've learned that Muschietti has another project up his sleeve...and it's not the second half of It.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Muschietti has also signed on to develop and direct an adaptation of Robotech for Sony. If, like me, you gave up long ago on watching anime, THR's got a pretty solid rundown on what Robotech's all about:

"Robotech is a sprawling sci-fi epic that takes place in a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology of an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific island. The technology comes in handy when the humankind has to fend off a wave of alien invasions."

So, humans in giant robots fighting aliens? Alright, I get it.

Right now there's no timeline on when Robotech might start filming, but THR mentions that Muschietti (and his producing partner/sister, Barbara) are apparently looking for the right screenwriter as we speak. They categorize this project as "high priority" and "moving quickly". Expect to hear something soon on that front, in other words.

Stay tuned for more on Robotech as it becomes available.
