The BMD Week That Was: IT, Comic-Con & DUNKIRK

Shining a light on those hard to reach stories.

Most days, a whole lot of stuff passes across our front page. Sometimes worthy stories disappear a bit too quickly. For that reason, we’re putting together an overview of how the week went down. From crazy news stories, to editorials we love, to just plain goofy articles that deserve a second look - this is The BMD Week that Was.

It’s been a crazy week here at BMD, thanks mostly to our extensive Comic-Con coverage. If I linked every story I would be here until next week, so instead I’ll point you here, where you can find all of it in one handy place.

But that was just the weekend. News-wise, this week’s biggest non-Comic-Con story was probably the new IT trailer, which Scott wrote up here and then took completely apart here.

Oh, I’m sorry. The biggest news this week wasn’t IT at all. It was Superman’s damn mustache.

We had a bunch of reviews this week. Check out this list: Logan Lucky, Girls Trip, An Inconvenient Sequel, Detroit, Atomic BlondeSam Strange even reviewed Valerian!

In addition to new movie reviews, we also had some great anniversary articles this week, including Boogie Nights, The Bourne Ultimatum, RoboCop, and The Lost Boys.

We also had great articles on Son of Rainbow and Hollywood's fascination with the Splinter Sequel. Meanwhile, Mandy looked at why people aren't watching People of EarthDunkirk and Christopher Nolan was a big topic of conversation as well, with both Siddhant and Hulk getting in on the action.

Say Something Nice had kind words for Hollow Man, Broad Cinema looked at 10 Things I Hate About You, Brian lamented the loss of cool songs written for movies in his Collins' Crypt, and Jacob Knight did an excellent job dissecting Sunday's latest Twin Peaks: The Return episode.

So if you're bored this weekend and looking for something to read, I do believe we are your Huckleberry. Have fun, and we'll see you next week!
