DEADPOOL’s Tim Miller Will Direct The Long-Gestating NEUROMANCER Adaptation

From the writer of JOHNNY MNEMONIC!

According to Deadline, Deadpool director Tim Miller has signed on to direct Hollywood's long-gestating adaptation of William Gibson's Neuromancer. The project's set up at FOX, does not yet have a screenwriter attached, and - given the projects Miller already has lined up (including a new Terminator movie) - is unlikely to happen for a few years.

If, like this writer, you've never gotten around to reading Neuromancer and need a plot synopsis, Deadline's got you covered:

"Case was one of the best console cowboys until he stole from one of his employers, who in turn damaged his nervous system so that he cannot access cyberspace anymore. Broke and destroying himself, Case is contacted by Molly, a heavily modified razorgirl, to work for a shadowy colonel who needs a cyberspace cowboy for a secret mission. The employer fixes Case’s damaged brain, but implants a slow dissolving poison to make sure the cyberspace wiz does his bidding, in attempting to abduct a perverse psychopath who is able to create holograms with the force of his mind."

Well, okay, sure!

Over the years, a ton of different filmmakers have taken a run at bringing Neuromancer to the screen, but none have quite made it across the starting line. Will Miller finally be the one to do it? Only time will tell, but we'll be keeping our ear to the ground for further updates, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, question for Neuromancer fans: is this one of those novels you really, really want to see adapted, or one of those novels that probably won't work as a movie and that's why it's taken this long for someone to actually make a Neuromancer movie? Sound off in the comments below.
