Production Delay On MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 Won’t Prevent It From Hitting Theaters Next July

Tom Cruise may've busted his ankle, but Ethan Hunt's still gonna get here on time.

Over the weekend, Tom Cruise managed to break his ankle while leaping between buildings on the Mission: Impossible 6 set in London (Cruise was filming a stunt sequence for the film, not just jumping across rooftops for funsies).

Anwyway, in the aftermath of this accident, Parmount announced it'd be shutting down production on the film in order to allow Cruise the proper amount of recuperation time...which meant that the conversation then turned into open speculation as to whether or not Mission: Impossible 6 would still be able to hit its July 27th, 2018 release date.

Well, according to Deadline, it will:

"Per Paramount: 'During production on the latest Mission: Impossible film, Tom Cruise broke his ankle while performing a stunt. Production will go on hiatus while Tom makes a full recovery, and the film remains on schedule to open July 27, 2018. Tom wants to thank you all for your concern and support and can’t wait to share the film with everyone next summer.'”

So, there you have it: after an extended break (Deadline says it'll likely be around nine weeks), filming on Christopher McQuarrie's Mission: Impossible 6 will resume, and - assuming no further hiccups - the film will still arrive, as scheduled, next summer.

The Birth.Movies.Death. team wishes Tom Cruise a speedy recovery. We love that lunatic.
